Dmitry, love the work you put into your channel. I’ve been learning a lot about roofing. In your video about the cost difference for Class 4 shingles, you say class 4 cost about $50 more per square with labor being mostly unchanged. What’s the rough up charge on the Duration Flex shingles versus Duration on a per square basis? Any major changes in installation procedure and labor costs that you see?
I’d like to see this repeated with 2 layers as it would be installed. That would be a more real-world test because the lower layer provides an additional degree of deformity which I suspect would cause the upper layer to crack more easily. However, the lower layer would have less damage.
This is a good video. The competitor shingle was a Certainteed landmark. I have not heard of OC Flex Shingle.
I noticed the flex shingles may not dent but showed the mark on the shingle. After a hail storm will the roof look bad with marks all over it?
Sbs shingles struggle in certain climates. Literally melt away under my guy who weighs 100 pounds just standing on a 4/12. Too soft is bad we’ll see how OC performs. The one that melted was the malarkey Vista and the malarkey nex. For anyone who’s curious
I just put on Malarkey Legacy XL and they’re a chunky shingle. Can’t see them turning to mush in the hot sun anytime soon

Do you have an opinion on Bratex’s Modular Metal Roof Tiles? Particularly I like the Savanna. I have an old slate roof that I would like to replace. The house was built in 1927. What could I buy in the States that would rival Bratex? Thanks

I’m seriously considering purchasing this shingle for my home in mid coast area of Maine. Now that you’ve almost a year later do you still feel the same way, or should I just stick with the standard Duration? Also would you recommend a contractor in my area.
@Roofing Insights I looked at your directory but unfortunately you don’t have anyone in the entire state. And this state doesn’t require a license for builders/roofers, so a good referral goes a long way. In Maine you need a license to cut hair or paint fingernails, but not to build a home. Figure that one out. Anyway, love the show. Thanks!

Love your videos, but that is not a true test. Hail falls from thousands of ft, and dropping a ball 20ft is not the same.
