Best part of the video is when Eric said, “Hire people as good as you.. OR BETTER than you.” To many owners are afraid to be undermined by an employee’s superior knowledge/skill. I actively seek people who know more than I do. I learn from them, pay them well, and I have no regrets.
@Nick Talley If that is your mindset than sure. I did not say everyone I hire is more experienced than I am either. I have weaknesses but, one of my strengths is acknowledging them. I have hired people who are more deliberate in areas where I may be a bit unsure. From that, I have gained tutelage from them and, have become proficient in those skill sets by actively being involved in decisions and, gaining an understanding of the nuances that dictate which direction to go in. Morale is high and, there is rarely any dissidence. People are appreciated for what they bring to the table, not taken advantage of. My goal is to pay peoples retirements, not their unemployment. I work very hard to create an atmosphere in which people would like to stay in.
@moe raff Could be either. Personally I would just assume it is total revenue and, hope for his sake it’s actually profit. Either way, 2 million a year in roofing is impressive.

Edmister but if every owner uses this method of employee recruitment you will never be able to breed and teach hard working apprentices and mold them into the knowledgeable people who you desire, then they will have more loyalty to the company. If you hire me who knows more than you and you’re ship starts rocking I can jump ship move one elsewhere and leave you high and dry. ??
I love the titles that say “HOW TO MAKE $$$ DOING XYZ” when in fact its just some successful dude rambling on saying just do it! Not to knock the man’s success at all, but the title is so misleading.

I know subs who work new construction can make a lot but doing roof repair bids I call bs.
I’m going to give everybody some great advice here,the directions are on every bundle of shingles!It’s not rocket science,you just need good work ethic.In all honesty roofing is the equivalent to a landscaper.
