Excellent presentation, I learned a lot.
Thanks Ryan, glad you found it helpful
What a good topic today, I’ll meet a homeowner in 2 hours and she asked to bid the roof for her also siding and soffit. I know price materials and labor but I don’t know a lot about siding, soffit, fascia etc. However, I’d hate myself at least don’t bring a bid for the homeowner
Great teaching Dmitry. Love your videos. Blessings Robert.
Thanks Robert, good to see you around

In what way does a higher price bring value to the market? How does selling a commodity like roofing have any intrinsic value to a prospect other than workmanship? If two companies sell the same shingle and accessories for the job and are perceived to provide same workmanship, why would customer pay more ? Salesmanship and trust.
@ToddBizCoach I see where your coming from. We have a small roofing and decking company and I could never think of charging what the big companies charge. Going over 550 per sq in my area for shingles is crazy to me. However the big guys are getting 650-$800 per sq. For walkables!!!
One thing about the big outfit is I understand there overhead and what not but they do have the ability to execute much more efficiently that a company like mine. They may be able to handle 10 roofs per week when we can only and 2-3 depending on complexity.
There ability to get jobs done quickly is the only thing I can see.
However, biding low messes the market up for everyone. I think by region we should all be charging around the same for the sake of the market. If the average rate per square for a walkable roof is $450 a square, but you’re charging $250 per square wide disrupt the market and take money out of others pockets. The other thing is you don’t want to get known as the contractor who does everything for super cheap because then you’ll never be able to raise your value from a business standpoint. some of these big guys are price gouging I completely agree with it. But a base price per square is something I believe we should all be on the same page with.
If you have to get aggressive to pick up the work I understand but bidding jobs low can put you in a really big jackpot down the line.
Just from my experience and that’s just my opinion.
@Forward Home Enhancements if a company with efficient operations and systems can net $300k at $250/sq on $1 million gross,200 jobs, tell me why they should increase their prices? Last time I heard price rigging is illegal. Everyone s idea of what is needed to enjoy business is different in terms of yearly profit.
Teach your sub contractors how to be more efficient and provide them with systems to make their work easier . That helps control future costs.
We take labor and materials times 1.67 for a 40% margin.
My manager gets mad if I cant get $1,000 a square calculated on waste.

Great video! Without knowing what you should be charging makes it extremely hard to educate your clients on why your company charges what they do and to ensure your company is meeting margins! We see so many companies in the Florida charge what their competitors are charging and end up going out of business.
Exactly. What competition charges is only 20% of what you should consider when figuring out your roofing business charges
Yes sir, make more videos many Im learning a lot I’m 17 many I work with my dad we do roofing to but as a sub contractor here and Atlanta ga and we get a lot of lead of contractors and I wanna make my own business and grow it out in the long run , I hope we could talk and ask questions ,but make more videos !!
I work for a large Home Improvement Company. We get $500 a square for Platinum Warranty OC Duration with Metal drip edge, Ice & Water Shield, Pro Armor Felt, Starter Shingles, Duration Shingles, Ridge Vent and Ridge Caps. Steep roof, Apron and Step Flashing, Chimney Flashing are extras. Long Island, NY.
Great video love the content. Would definitely like to see more of this. As well would love a video of hands on walk through roofs with roof damages and explations of what they are and how they are covered.
Roofing is very rarely won by being the cheapest. Try to stay competitive by reaching the mid point. Either Middle/High or direct midpoint.
You are an inspiration for a lot of us that are a minority in USA.
Your drive and energy vis contagious.
Thank you so much for kind words!

Here in Florida now with the material price. It’s from 370-450 for res depending on the area. Usually the coasts are 450ish
Breaking point! Thank you Demetri I’m learning a lot. Blessings!
When our business charges. We usually looks at our costs. And we charge for for 60% profit or at least 50%. No lower than that. Since when I started making the business do that. We started to see more income.
Awesome video brother!!! Great information about price
You are like “THE POPE” of Roofing. You know every single angle of the business.
Im assuming these are single layer tear offs on walkable pitch? If so, how do you scale price as difficulty increases? How would you price a re-roof? Thanks
