I have used both and unless the felt paper is going to sit for a long time or it windy no need to use the button cap nails but they do make a giant version of a slap stapler that uses the nails
In florida it’s code to use “button caps” 12oc in the field 6″oc on the seems. I use “tin tags”. Round piece of metal and you feed them out and shoot the. With a roofing nail
Shingle repair..so u can peel the seal strip on old brittle shingles instead of carrying a bar…shouldn’t need to pull nails while laying roof, just beet them down
great tool to have for the occasion when you need it.
Ive been roofing for 13 yrs .and i use the hell out of one of these hammers everyday it is very handy especially on steep roofs.

Good for cap-nails, but I wouldn’t use it for shingles
“how to drive a nail in one swing.”

It should be code everywhere staples are pretty close to useless in my opinion
@Skip Ads don’t know what to tell you. Florida code, you know because of hurricanes
Thank you
Yeah I need one. Where the hell do I buy it?
What is the axe part for i want to see why it’s better than a rip
Roofers carried a hatchet to split cedar shakes wich was used before shingles

i roofed for years and hammer/nails is all we used. staples are a joke. magnets don’t care if you beat on them or let them sit.
Your supposed to used a staple hammer gun for the flashing/ tar paper not nails. And wouldnt the magnet lose its force from pounding?
Yeah different strokes for different folks
Nard586 no u can use both. Staples will just rip right thru the felt and wont hold on. Button cap nails will
